Masally is the administrative area in the south of Azerbaijan with the estimated population of
211,951 people (2014). This territory borders on Lankaran, Lerik, Yardimli, Jalilabad, Neftchala districts. In the east, the district is surrounded by the Caspian Sea, and in the west it approaches Talish Mountains. There are mineral and geothermal springs in Masally. There are 107 villages in the Masally
Geography and Climate
The city has cool climate. Average temperature is 2,1°C in January, and 24,6°C in July. Vilash is the largest river of the district. There are broad-leaved forests of Girkan type-chestnut-leaved oak, hornbeam, beech, Persian ironwood tree, Girkan boxwood, Caucasian persimmon, medlar and others in the mountainous part of the district.

Fishing is the most important recreation for residents. Bright sunshine, fresh and clean water, and clean air, attract many domestic and foreign tourists to the city. The city has many mineral hot springs, with the temperature of 69° to treat patients coming from different cities of Azerbaijan.

Its people, like other people in the south, are compassionate, hospitable and hardworking.
Of the most important handicrafts belonging to this city are mat weaving, weaving straw hats, mats and baskets.
