Geography
Tehran is located in southern slopes of the Alborz mountain range. Since 1340s, Tehran has been an immigration centre for a large number of people from all over Iran.
Weather in Tehran is influenced by the mountains of north (Tochal Resort) and the plains in south. Apart from mild and wet areas which are under the influence of North Mountains, other areas of the city are rather hot and dry, and are slightly cold in winter. The main source of rainfall is the Mediterranean and Atlantic humid winds that blow from the West. Alborz Mountains, as a barrier, stop the air mass entrance, thus it makes Tehran’s climate relatively drier.
