Azerbaijan Visa

Azerbaijan visa is a permit that must be obtained from visa authorities of Azerbaijan, unless they are from one of the visa exempt countries, countries eligible for visa on arrival or countries eligible for ASAN electronic visa.

 

Visa Types

Tourist (Ordinary) Visa

Issued to a foreign citizen who comes to Azerbaijan for tourist purpose.

Business Visa

Issued to a foreign citizen who comes to Azerbaijan to conduct business meetings, attend conferences, trade fares and expeditions, also to participate in exchanges in the fields of science, technology, education, culture and sports.

Family Member (Business) Visa

Issued to family members of a foreign citizen working in Azerbaijan on a business visa.

Private Visa

Issued to a foreign citizen who comes to Azerbaijan to visit friends or family and is invited by Azerbaijani citizen.

 

Visa requirements

The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the expiry date of the Azerbaijani visa applied for.  Visa will not be granted, provided there is less than 3 months for the expiry of a foreign citizen's passport,. Citizens of specific countries listed, who are required to obtain a visa with an ordinary passport or with a service passport, have to obtain a visa before travelling to Azerbaijan. Visas are issued in at an embassy or consulate of the Republic of Azerbaijan or upon arrival at the border crossing points of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The visa application form may be filled online and submitted to the diplomatic mission.

 

Visa exemption

Citizens of the 9 following countries can visit Azerbaijan without a visa for up to 90 days:

Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan

 

Visa on arrival

Citizens of the following countries can obtain a visa for Azerbaijan on arrival, which is valid for 30 days and is obtainable at any international airport. These countries are Bahrain, China, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia,    Israel

 

Limited visa on arrival

Citizens of Iran can obtain a 15-day visa on arrival only for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Citizens of Turkey can obtain a 30-day visa on arrival only at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

Citizens of United States can obtain a 30-day visa on arrival only if arriving on a direct flight of Azerbaijan Airlines from New York City.

 

Electronic visa

Azerbaijan introduced electronic visas for citizens of 81 following designated countries in January 2017:

Iran, All EU citizens, Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Qatar, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, United States, Vatican City, Vietnam.

The system is called ASAN Visa and the visas are issued for a single-entry visit up to 30 days. The e-visa should be printed and presented together with the passport (that should be valid at least 3 months more than the validity period of the electronic visa) at the border checkpoint.

 

Bans

The Government of Azerbaijan bans the entry of citizens of Armenia, as well as citizens of any other country who are of Armenian descent, to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Transit visa: delivery in three working days

One year visa with the 90-day stay: delivery in seven working days

One year visa with the 120-day stay: delivery in seven working days

One year visa with the 180-day stay: delivery in seven working days
