SHIRVANSHAH- the part of the great history of the Azerbaijan. 5 day / 4 nights This tour named by the name of the oldest state in Azerbaijan will start in Baku as the last capital of this State. Being in Old City in the center of Baku we would visit the last residence of the Rules of this State - Shirvan-Shah's Palace and other historical monuments built in the 15th and 16th centuries We would also visit the oldest fortresses in Apsheron around Baku built by the Shirvan shahs fearing attack from the sea. The tour will be ended in its former famous capital Shemakha situated 80 miles west of Baku, at the foothills of the Big Caucasus Mountains Chain. Historically Guba has been known since the 18th century as the center of Khanlygh (traditional Azeri duchy) and it is famous for architectural landmarks of the 19th century, as the oldest Mosques and Bathswith their two domes. On Apsheron peninsula excursion you will be informed about the oil development in Azerbaijan and visit the oldest oil producing fields, observe the natural gas outlets (Yanar Dag "Burning Mountain") and mud volcanes together with the current on and off shore fields. The Apsheron Peninsula, stretching out info the Caspian Sea beyond Baku, has the several 14th century fortress, built by the Shirvan shahs fearing attack from the sea. Also we would visit Sheki (380 km northwest of Baku) which is one of the largest and oldest cities in Azerbaijan. This region of Azerbaijan is one of the most picturesque that strikes an interesting contrasts to the arid region surrounding Baku. In town you, you will see brick houses, shaded streets, weeping willow trees and canals carrying spring water. Sheki is long famed as a silk center and an important stop on the silk route.
